Another perfect day...

"We'd walk about a mile up the East Lanc's road...leading to the back of the Kraft,
it was a magical place where we all played...explored, and always had a laugh.
It was just behind the Cheese Factory...like a wild nature reserve...honest it really was class!"...we'd crawl through the hole in the big fence...to play, and hide in the long willowy grass.
Catching sticklebacks, and tadpoles...we brought home in jam jars,
it was another place to escape to...despite our legs covered in scratches, and scars....Happily we'd play there for hours, and hours...losing all sense of meaningless time....getting covered in mucky mud..not forgetting the frogspawn slime. Just eight years old, and having the time of our young, innocent lives...
but the disappointment is real, when hometime finally arrives.
So homeward we trudged, having ran out of more games to play,
wearily, but safely arriving home...at the end of yet another Perfect Day!"

Hey Frank.... talking of jam jars - remember the growing mustard seeds in the jam jars with the pink blotting paper? I say this poem is perfect because you convey the happiness we found in simple things....thanks for reminding me.

For some reason I felt the need to check in on PS and so glad I did for I got to read this delightful poem about the past related by my favorite poet. Hope you and the family are all well Frank, considering the way this Pandemic has impacted the lives of everyone. Stay safe and well my dear friend. Love and blessings-Cecilia.

Yeah I do remember in the infants school....the seeds growing on blotting paper, and carrot tops sprouting on saucers of water....it's amazing what sticks in your mind....it really does make you feel happy recalling all that simple stuff...😃...I loved all those nature lessons as a kid...(still do)....one time we were playing at the "back of the Kraft"...I must've been about ten yrs old...I rescued a hare caught in a poachers snare ..the wire was around its neck....it was thrashing about in the grass...me and my mate dived on it and I claimed it as mine ...and took it home ...when me ma seen it, she screamed at me to "get it out of the kitchen!"....she wouldn't let me keep it!...I had to let it go...I was gutted...hahaha..great memories Ann...stay safe..👍🏻

Another koinkadink Frank! We had a place like that under a railway arch in Wakefield. I felt I was there with you reading this, the difference was I hated going 'home' Nice one,

Those was the golden times of our life. It seems to me that I would like to go back to that life once again.
