Shadows

Time stood still,
for many a year.
We lived at high noon,
when shadow did not appear.

Then one day man did wrong,
and clock changed gear.
Time began,
and the hauntings drew near.

What was the first wrong?
No one knows,
Ever since,
we’ve had shadows.

Our choices brought them,
now darkening every step.
Forever sewn to soul,
a constant reminder of regret.

Your shadow looks like you,
that is no mistake.
We create our demons,
they will drag us to fiery lake.

Remember what you did,
remember what you’ve done.
This is their call,
it’s no use to run.

Every move shrouded,
every choice darkened.
As a whisper in the ear,
leaving soul disheartened.

Stitched to foot,
our shadows like anchors.
Fulfilling their design,
keeping us from what’s greater.

Our fates almost sealed,
we wait.
Our futures unsure,
we wait.

We wait for brother,
He promised he’d come.
Teach us how,
to undo what’s done.
