Blink

Blink.
One... Two.. Three.
Blink.
Don't think, only blink.
The smells, the oh so sickening smells, so sweet and robust.
Blink.
The air getting thicker and so hard to breathe, the atmosphere is heavy and filled with lust.
Blink.
Blink dammit don't think!
Flashes of pain fly through my brain like bombs in a war dropping from a plane.
DON'T THINK!

Blink.
You watch your life as it flashes before your eyes, wondering if that moment will be the last breath you take.
Blink.
Its in the past its all said and done. There is no danger here that battle I've already won.
But that was a battle and this is the war.
The war that wakes you from from your sleep in screams of gruesome agony.
The war that leaves you in a constant state of paralyzed fear.
Their hands crawl up your skin and leave their mark.
The blood, the bruises, the stinging claw marks.
They reach your throat, and tighten their grip, you stand helpless as you begin to choke.

"Its in the past its all over now, you're safe I now I promise"

You repeat these words like an anthem simply trying to move on.
Blink.
Your head begins to throb and your ears start to ring.
BLINK MAN JUST BLINK!
Your mind is detached, no longer with your body nothing left to growned.
Spinning through the spindle of your memories as they wash away all of your sanity.
Fists at your face, hands on your neck, screams in your ears, and death lurking near.
"It's not real, they're only memories, you are safe now"
A soft voice so distant and far, repeats these words reminding you of where you are.
Blink.
You come to in a ball on the floor, cold tears line your eyes, as you cry in the arms of the one you love in your life.
PTSD is the monster that not only has run your mind, but has now learned to run your life.

You. You were my everything. You were my light in the dark, You took my heart and kissed every broken mark. You fixed me up, painted over every spot. Or so I thought. You were a demon in a halo, a knife wrapped in lace. You ri... Read more
