When I get older.....

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Apr 21, 2018

"It's my birthday today....I can't believe that I'm sixty nine!
Apart from a few creaky old bones, honest trust me, I really am feeling fine.
I've got all my own hair, and still have my teeth, but a few unwanted inches on my tum...my eyes are not bad, and I'm rather quiet glad, that there's no extra weight
on me bum!
My diet is good, but I know that I should...exercise just that little bit more,
...I get down on the mat, stretch out like a cat...but then it's bloody murder
getting up off the floor!...Yes it's my birthday today, and I just want to say,
I'll live it at my own leisurely pace, and one thing's for sure, I'll say it once more...
all day I'll have a big smile on my face!..hahaha."
