Shades of darkness

The time is 2:56 a.m. and the air is so cold even breathing has become a difficult task. Dina ignores these issues as She darts down a vacant sidewalk. The task of breathing became difficult miles ago. With every breath blinding pain radiated from her ribs but still she ran at top speed. Her legs trembled with every step but dina ran with a intensity. She only focused on the path ahead of her, knowing not to look back.

The lights of a church flickered in the distance ahead and dina began to feel a flicker hope for the first time in a long time. Her cloths we're tattered and black with dirt. She looked disheveled but for a second she allowed herself to smirk.

Dina peered down into the glowing yellow eyes of the baby clutched in her arms. He looked up at Dina with a eerie smile on his face that stretched from ear to ear. A smile that since birth has yet to leave his face.

3:01 Am the sky gets impossibly darker around Dina until the moon disappears behind what looked like a fog of pure darkness. The only source of light left came from lights that hung from electrical poles. Which gave dina a new Serge of energy. No longer did she feel the ache in her lungs or the trembling of her legs. The only thing she could feel now was the fight or flight sense of fear.

"POP,.... POP, POP," as dina runs past each light they explode. Darkness was chasing her but she knew not to turn her head. Dinas focus is on the church that stood across the street from her.

You told a story filled with pain and darkness but with hope in the end...I enjoyed it Sylvester.
