Nine Lives

I heard that cats have nine lives
True or not, who is it to say?
Maybe that why they deep dive
Because they know they’ll be okay

I heard how rains can be a comfort
Their drops ring through your window
It could give you a big warm fort
And feel like you’re on a meadow

I heard how things can turn on you
Just like the wind right outside
Bangs and sobs turn the sky blue
And the warmth has started to slide

I heard how your place can influence
Just like my mind drowning deep
I’m sorry for my inconvenience
But my tears can't help but leak

I heard that people may hate me
How much of a burden I have been
True or not, or whatever the truth be
Pain just seems much more keen

I remember how I felt my lap shift
As my cat mate has gotten anxious
I remember how she felt like a gift
In the middle of this malicious

I am no scientist or google drive
But I felt the warmth come back again
Yes, cats do have nine lives
Because I was just given one then
