For what am I

poem by: Mark Moon

What if I was thrown aside ?
What if I was made a stray ? Forced to live on the outside.
What if I wasn’t your pretty pet no more ? Am I the reason for your discontent ?
What makes me different ?

Am I not cute enough ?
Am I not your tiny little ball of fluff ?
I am sorry if I play too rough,
I just hope I am good enough.

I understand If I am not for you,
I just want you to know you made my dreams come true.

It sad to see us disconnect like this,
But you can let go,
I want you to be bliss.

Why can't you look me in the eye ?
You stare at a screen,
Whilst I cry.

Remember the days we used to play, I’d hide behind a tree and you’d laugh away.
I suppose I am just another dog cliché.

I stare at an open door and wonder, is it time to go?
It the last time we will be together,
You don’t even know.

I shimmy up to you to say my last goodbye.
You hold me tight and sing me a sweet lullaby.

I wake up nestled in your arms.
Oh,
It feels good to be fooled by your charms.
