Fermented Past

Go ahead, shove your painful memories
to the back of the fridge,
the ones that you've put into an
elegantly laced tupperwhere to hide its
horrifying disfigurement and sprayed
with lighthearted comedy
to avoid pity from impromptu guests

Go ahead, pretend that stench that
leaks from it over time is due to the
weakness and overdramatics that
youve convinced yourself you own
and never reach for it until one day
you wake up and realize the stench is
to putrid to bear any longer

Go ahead, try to clean it out with
your trusty bottle of sheer will and
false confidence,
that is until you realize your bottle is
empty having been used up from the
last obstacle that had gotten in your
way

Go ahead, unspiral into a fit of
panic like you always do when
the stench just won't go away
haunting your days and nights,

Go ahead, let the stench engulf you
until you don't even recognize it anymore
until it matches your day to day smell
and you're able to live with it again

Go ahead…...
