In the dark..

I sit here in the dark
Listening to the thump,thump..boom
Of thunder
And the sound of my heartbeat in my ears
I wish I felt you still
Warm against my back, arm curled
Because I don’t know how to sleep without you…
It is like having to learn to breathe again
After the wind is knocked from me
Painful and frightening, panicked
I never wanted this…
