Cocoon

poem by: Crystal McClure
Written on Aug 12, 2019

The core has become the shell
Emerged, diverged, exposed
Crumbling it falls to the ground, surrounding my body
Exposed, I withdraw
Fear of the light
Fear of the flight
Fear of the fall
The light whispers to my soul
I yearn to emerge
Breaking free form the bonds that nourished my essence
Creation is present with the pain
Just as the infant within the womb
I inhale as I exit
Beautiful breath
