Garage Picasso's

My new little garage in the back.
I left off the inside drywall.
Spaces between the studs to fill.
My very own Garage Mahal.

Will house only my manly stuff.
Some would call it a man cave.
It's for my hot rod and chopper.
It's a space all my life I have craved.

I have to make some decisions.
I may just make it a shrine.
To hot rods and racers from the fifties,
how life was way before mine.

I have parts from old Model A's.
I could hang them from the ceiling.
Went in freezing cold to buy them.
Was gonna use 'em, but a lot of rust I'm seeing.

A dropped front axle will be hung.
It has a checkered racing past.
It's full of dings and small bends,
from passing cars that weren't quite as fast.

An old radiator from the thirties.
Bought it two years ago on a trip.
Filled it with water, every tube leaked.
I will hang it, but to this day it still drips.

Have four wire wheels I planned to use.
There a bit skinny, but pretty cool.
Gonna use the wide five's instead.
Throwing the wires away would be cruel.

So the wires will go on wooden shelves.
Only one has its original hub cover.
All four are in need of serious painting,
but not if you count rust as a color.

The garage, a monument to the past.
Of things, I hold dear to my heart.
Can't wait to start each new day.
and open the door to that cool garage art.

A profession that's not the norm. It borders on the absurd. In the mountains and down the hollers, powerful engines could always be heard. I decided to try something new. Put my driving skills to the test. Driving from H... Read more
