Stagnant

poem by: Royce B
Written on Jan 16, 2019

Rivers flow ever forward
Through paths etched in stone, reaching towards
Something.

Water from the dam gushes forth
Yet though I swim for all I'm worth
I'm going nowhere.

The water sloshes white
I struggle with all my might
But I won't move.

I alone float above the abyss
Gazing helplessly at everything I will miss
For the water around me is stagnant.

Everyone else has been carried away
But here I shall remain
Floating, sinking, drowning.
