People Don't Last Forever

poem by: Kristen Gunn
Written on Dec 01, 2018

I’d say I give you my sympathies
But what will that do for you?
My mortal self
Can't do what you’d like me to

Of course if I could
I’d make them never die
Or at least rid you of regrets
For the pain you brought to their lives

For what is and what isn’t
The tragic mistakes you made
Destroyed the chance you had
No chance to start again

Because life is too short
But we don’t realise til’ too late
That life is a ticking time-bomb
And people don’t last forever

Not sure what this poem's about, but Life is never too short Kristen. Stay being excellent to yourself :)
