Distant

poem by: Liz Luna

We rush to grow but the days go slow
It feels like really long ago
When we were outside playing tag
We go home to hear mother nag
This is how she becomes our foe

We play pretend and make a show
We become people we don't know
And with our friends, we grow apart
We rush to grow

We see them but don't say hello
Emotions start to flow
I want to go back to that time
When we were partners in crime
My feelings I need to stow
We rush to grow
