Writing for the Sake of It

poem by: R.T. Aquinas
Written on Apr 12, 2018

Now you're just writing for the sake of it
What will the readers make of it?
Do you think this is all great
Or would you rather see some of it wiped from the slate?
You so much insist on having them rhyme
But you sometimes just don't have the time.

So, Rhys, I'll ask you again:
What will your readers think when they see what you pen?

What's so wrong with writing for the sake of it?
I write for fun and my own enjoyment
It doesn't matter what they make of it
My poetry has helped me find employment

It demonstrates my skills
It displays my knowledge
So what if I'm not the best?
I knew that in college
