Echoes of Paradise

poem by: Greg Woods
Written on Dec 23, 2013

Echoes of paradise,
reflections in my eyes.
Sensations on my skin,
when will my life begin?

Realisations one by one,
of the things that I have done.
Some are gone and some still stay,
some I had to throw away.

But the echoes of paradise,
cool reflections in my eyes.
Steady drumbeat in my heart,
when will my life start?

Negativity I let go,
positivity now I know.
My life has already begun,
there's no longer a need to run.

Steady pace as I walk along,
I'm now able to sing a song.
Paradise echoing fresh and clear,
strength and wisdom replacing fear.

Written around 1990 after a huge battle with alcohol, of which I won. There was a period of about 6 months where I felt compelled to write poetry and things would come to me in verse, at all hours and any place.
