Starving
Starving, hurting, afraid, alone
Ever searching for a place where I am known
Out stretched hand to all who pass by
Wondering why they care not if I live or die
Silently watching as the world turns
Unable to find that warmth for which I truly yearn
Beaten, broken, bloodied and bruised
Head held in hands, so confused
I see my people everywhere
Happy, smiling, living without care
It is quite easy to claim that life’s not fair
Struggling, striving, searching for meaning
Emotions boil under the surface
Unable to process what I am seeing
My face remains still, serving no purpose
Unable to cope with the surrounding loneliness
I am uncertain where to go with this
Crushed by forces without form
Yet to everyone else this seems the norm
A world absorbed in that which isn’t real
We walk past each other without care
When what one needs is to feel
