Holidays

Holidays

Christmas and New Years
come but once a year,
And even that is to much.

I have aged
I moved north to forget
failed marriages
failed relationships
failing health.
My children left
towards their own lives.
Expectations
narrowed
simple existence grew
smaller.
I draw more inside my own soul.

I'll hold my breath for a few more days
Until all this vanishes into the short
Days of this season.
