Drought breaks

poem by: Doug Andersen
Written on Dec 18, 2016

Once more the empty skies rejoice
as pregnant cloud that promise grace
now mask Sol's tyranny that's held
all hope as hostage to it's will.

'cross boiling chaos lightnings break
to paint a world in surreal strokes
as sound of rushing waters fill the air
hymns of release from parching glare.

Dust claimed creeks and stream renewed
again to course the landscape through
as living waters through them spill
and thirsty nature drinks her fill.

The wide brown land awakes still sound
the heat is gone, the curse unwound,
in pasture parched by summer's frown
the brittle blades of aching browns
surrendering to the softening hues
the vibrant greens of life renewed
declare once more life's miracle
the cycles of rebirth fulfilled
