Sins of the fathers

poem by: Doug Andersen
Written on Dec 18, 2016

Behold, the horror of unnatural times
as violence feeds on tortured minds
from seeds of hate now fully-grown,
injustice's fruit through ages sown
has reaped the whirlwind in our time.

So are the tongues of all struck dumb
the brotherhood of man undone
When instinct for the natural good
is come the hostage of unnatural deed,
it’s then we see the heavens weep
as blood of innocence cries out
for justice 'gainst untimely loss.

So now the tears begin to flow
to reach where words no longer go,
as heart to heart the comfort comes
renewing hopes life-giving bonds.
Yet still the question lingers on
why is this so, what's to be done?.
Listen then HIS words still say;
"Vengeance is mine,
I will repay"
