The butterfly who flew

poem by: Gemma Morgan

Crawling around covered in mud
Feeling like one of a kind
Like most who had flown before me
I longed to fly consumed my mind
Try and try every night
Stretched up high with all my might
One day crawling around
Met someone upon the ground
'If you push up straight and into the night
You will fly tonight'
So pushed and pushed I did
Arose a crack
Out from behind my very own back
A beautiful set of wings
And all manner of things
When feeling like giving up
And all was lost
There would have to be a higher cost
Those words you spoke and made me see
That like those who had gone before me
I too was as beautiful as can be
Up I went flying around
High above the mud covered ground
Now I was thanks to you
The butterfly who truly flew
