Sinking

I lay ontop of the frosted sand
I reach to my side to grab your hand
I'm met with the blade of the hot humid air
As I grasp the idea that you are not there

I listen to the whispers of the past
Every voice louder, more vivid than the last
In agony I beg, I plead it to stop
The air diffuses my words, I am the outcast

You stare at me longley in your pirogue
Your image begins to fade into the fog
I enter the scorching, searing hot water
It is too late, the mist has got her

I try to keep myself from drowning
But soon enough I cease the fighting
The lava like water crawls through my skin
And I start to sink like a melting submarine

The sky starts to fade as I descend deeper
My lungs start to ache and long for oxygen
Ice tears leave my eyes but now it does not matter
As they melt through the burning water

We all are born through unconditional love
But I have now reached the bottom of the ocean
My heart has stopped beating as I reach the floor
I have entered the basement of the god of loneliness
