Have I Made a Difference

Have I Made a Difference?

Coming to grips with the realities of life’s ambitions
Is there a rule to have to make decisions?
Is life a quest to make a difference
Is it how to justify our existence?

Or is life just an illusion to fill a space
Traded for by parent’s desire to have another face,
A face that like theirs is a chance for nurture
At the least a personal mark on the future

Or is it a need to prolong something we did not start,
But now value the chance we have and appreciate heart

Discovering a purpose depends on dirt and air,
Geographics plays a part, all a lottery of where

So for mine a ticket with a prize
A seat up front Australia wise,
Little did I know the luck at the start
I had been given a chance to play a part

An option to take or give
To affect the way I live,
To question attitudes of self trust
Learning to embrace my truth a must

So the million dollar question to ask
As maturity is coming to an end,
Did I make a difference
Was my world a friend?

Ahhh.... the riddle of life do we ever truly leave a mark in it? I think as long as we leave our mark on one person in that they remember us long after we're dead we've accomplished as much as we can hope for. Wonderful heartfelt poem.
