journey of life

poem by: Julie Cook
Written on Jul 03, 2013

Alone in silence, screaming inside
ripped apart in the road i ride
no one to listen, the pain gets worse
total confusion, my head wants to burst
they say things will get better
they say things are fine
but who knows whats happening
in this head of mine

The silent crys, the painless cuts
they say i am hopeless, well i have guts
i keep my silence, i sit and smile
but i just wish to run a mile
the pain that i feel, the hurt inside
sometimes its hard, just want to hide
i let it out, i scream,i shout
no one to hear, no one about

there is a light, its far away
i keep on trying, ill get there one day
the light gets closer, its not to far
my journey was long, but worth it some how
the pain i felt, it fades in the past
the hurt and tourment,is going at last

See im not at all crazy, nor ami mad
ive been to a bad place,of which i am glad
im stronger than ever,im now at the light
im so pleased i fought it
im glad ofmy life

Powerful stuff keep it up
Trevor Cartwright commented:
So what is the light? Is the light relative?
julie cook commented:
the light depends on how you want to see it "the light at the end of the tunnel" trever alex thank you
Trevor Cartwright commented:
No problem. I like how these lyrics are open-ended. People have entirely different circumstances, but there really are a few constant questions and struggles we all share.
greg woods commented:
Well done Julie, I like the way you expressed your pain then killed it off with a positive ending, this shows strength rather than hopelessness and allows the reader to understand your battle then be happy for you.
Milton Robertson commented:
I am pleased you fought too, there is a reason hang in there and all that's in the dark will come to the light.
Christopher Russon commented:
I am pleased you found your way out of those darkened places.
Chris Cleverly commented:
Nice work, thanks for posting
Shanta commented:
" i am now at the light"? Needs Poetic explanation, otherwise it's a statement.
Sun Chaser commented:
Your place is familiar. I know that pain. Coming out of it is such a free feeling, sometimes memorably so. Enjoyed your poem, thanks for sharing.
Fauxcroft wade commented:

Julie.....reading that poem was so upsetting....my heart breaks for you, and I admire your courage to share your ordeal......That man wasn't a father, more a monster!.......I hope he was reported, and severely punished......I hope he is dead....your poem might give courage to other innocent children also suffering in silence..........who should stay silent ...NO MORE!.....
