Fear and Love

poem by: Alexander Lincoln
Written on Jun 05, 2013

Fear and love,
fear and love.
The fear of being loved
or the love of being feared?
The fear of being unloved and
the love of being fearless.
A concoction of self appraisal?
Or self doubt hidden behind walls of ones' own pity.
Inside those walls
nothing but flesh, blood, bone
on the outside?
Actions.
Actions speak loud and clear.
But fear those whose actions do not fear.
An eye for an eye?
Blindness to fear,
fear to violence.
The love of fear and
the fear of love.
Speak,
speak loud and clear.

Wow, you wrote an incredible poem. Fear and love are huge motivators...and yet they are very different. I like how you employed binary opposition to convey the parallel and the opposite natures of these two powerful motivational forces. Thanks for sharing.
