Without You
Time, like a familiar shadow cruises by the bitten apple of my eye
Disappearing into days gone by, such memories of bright blue skies
The beauty of a new day when first breaths of morning are never old,
A tired face in the mirror, oh to be alive, is a miracle to behold
How grateful to receive, another chance, a reason to believe
I try and try to love me, myself and I for a kind and just reprieve
So many flaws yet I blindly say I'm good, I'm worthy and everything's okay
Faith in the dark, I kneel to pray and plead with time to heal my black dog days
Is there time enough to heal the deepest wounds and let forgiveness grow?
My self portrait, reflected cruel words inside seeds she would secretly sow
Your bright blue eyes were my world, your stories my reason to dream
Without you I would be lost in the city where nothing is what it seems
The fairies lived in your garden, my voice lingers in the wind through trees
Love sat on that garden seat where we would meet to sip on cups of tea
Born of another mother only in name, in blood so sadly tainted with shame
Since you left for the bright light I am an unwilling player in a nasty game
Without your smile, contagious laughter and love for life unconditional and free
Some good came from hanging on to hope in the dark damp place she put me
So I want you to know you were the moon in my nights and the sunshine in my days
You were my angel my joy, my comfort through tears, and I miss you in every way.
