Back in time

Hey lads how's it going
do you remember arrow throwing
It was lethal was that thing
and only powered with a bit of string.
Length of cane pointed tip,
Paper flights
That was it
kids now don't know how to play
knock on doors and runaway
tie a door knob to the one next door
we used to laugh forever more
play conkers marbles and the like
(I was such a scruffy Tyke)
climbing trees,, they don't do it now
we used to climb from bough to bough
we played cricket when we could
with a bat made from old scrap wood
a dustbin sufficed for the wicket
now that is what we called cricket
but now all those days are gone
older now we carry on
how things have changed
 over time
I hope you liked this little rhyme

I'm constantly going "back in time" with my poetry....I loved playing with bows and arrows....I made my own..it was taller than me!...and deadly.....Yeah all those old games are dying out...kids don't enjoy the outdoors the way we did back in the 50s and 60s....love the Poem Kay....

Thank you Frank... the throwing arrows were a piece of cane/stick about 12in loop the string at the top, hold the string at the bottom of the cane and presto a throwing arrow... probably get locked up if we did it now :)

Yeah...I get what you mean now....(no bow)...hahaha..you never realised that you were playing with deadly weapons back then.....I put one of my mums darning needles tied to the end of my arrow......and hit my mates brother in his back from about 100 yards away!...(I aimed at him, but I never thought I'd hit him!)....the way he fell, I thought I'd killed him!.......great fun though hahaha...
