My Beating Heart

"My bed sheet still smells like you", I silently whispered to myself.

As soon as I wake up, these are the words that came out of my mouth. I sighed in utter woe knowing my body aches for your touch. This day wasn't different from my other days because it's still you who I was thinking of.

While I was lost in my own thoughts, suddenly my phone rang. I didn't expect to get a call this early. It was 4 am in the morning after all.

"14th day of December 2030: Date beneath the moonlit sky."

It's an event reminder. I blinked for like a couple of times just to make sure if I was reading it right.

"It's that time of the year again", I uttered.

I immediately took a shower, changed my clothes, and waited until it was time for the moon to come out and shine on its own.

I squeezed my heart because I couldn't get a hold of myself. I was too excited to have a date with you beneath the moonlit sky.

Before I went to the place where you and I first met, I bought us first a matcha milk tea, our all-time favorite drink. I bought us too a shawarma and a carrot cake. Although, you prefer red velvet.

"Hey, love. Guess what? I bought our all-time favorite drink!"
"You never fail to amaze me. Just in time when I was craving for matcha milk tea. You're the best person ever. My heart is really yours."

Your voice was like a music to my ears. Everything was perfect until...

"Hey, love. Guess what? I bought our all-time favorite drink!"
"You never fail to amaze me. Just in time when I was craving for matcha milktea. You're the best person ever. My heart is really yo--- battery low. Phone is shutting down."

Just when the moon and the stars are shining in its fullest glory, this suddenly happened.

I snapped. I was lost in reverie when I realized that the person I love died 4 years ago.

Tears started to stream down from my visage. I was having my hallucinations again. It was a voice record. We were celebrating our anniversary when I took this one. This was my last memory of him.

Now I'm here again—same place, same date, same snacks, same moonlit sky, but not with the same person.

"I miss you. Why did you have to leave me? I'm still hoping you would come back. I didn't know you were pretty serious when you've said your heart is now mine. Please refrain from worrying for your heart is in good condition. I'm taking care of it because that's the only thing I have of you. I wouldn't be alive if it weren't for you", I screamed hoping he would hear me from up above.

My heart—it was beating for you, and now, it beats because of you.

Until we meet again.

(This is just purely fictional. A figment of imagination).
