The Necromancer

Dominus leaned closer to the voluptuous, exquisitely-featured young woman he had lured into his castle. She lolled in a swoon, her fluttering eyelids and slightly puckered lips showing her to be quite aware of her situation. Or, what she thought her situation was.

To Dominus, the seduction was a vital part of the feeding ritual. And tonight's must be perfect, to celebrate the acquiring of his new powers. On this night he had become master of the undead hordes.

But now, the victory feast. The lady's long white neck lay across Dominus' black sleeve, inviting the dark lover to sate his hunger. He opened his mouth, exposing his pointed and pearly-white canines....

There was a hoarse giggle to his left.

"What the devil are you still doing here?" Dominus whispered over the shoulder of his pliant victim-to-be. She kept feigning unconsciousness. The zombie to whom Dominus had spoken retreated further into the crimson velvet drapes. "It's no use hiding, I know you're there. Now scram, I can't do this with you watching!"

The zombie moaned behind the drapes, a deep and resonating sound that turned humans' bowels to water. Usually. The lady in Dominus' arms opened one eye nervously.

"What was that?" she asked him. Apparently she was a little deaf.

"The wind, my dear. At my bidding it declares our undying love." Fortunately for him, a gust from a rising storm rattled the eaves that very moment. The lady smiled dazzlingly and drew Dominus' face down...

A rattling sound came from a high, carved wardrobe behind them.

"Did you hear something, my love?" inquired the girl.

"No." The reply was rather muffled, as Dominus continued his legendarily distracting before-dinner kisses. A moment later they were apparently doing their job, for she didn't even notice the skeletons emerging from the closet and exiting the room. Things were proceeding as planned.

Until the ghost materialized behind him.

It wasn't the specter's fault, as Dominus well knew. It had only come to warn of the approach of the legendary vampire killer, Hunter Grimm. But suddenly the repast wasn't in a romantic mood anymore. As she ran from the room her screams echoed through the castle halls, frightening the various lichs and revenants that were his new room-mates.

Dominus sighed in frustration. Dinner was ruined.
