YOUNG AT HEART LOVELY AMY

poem by: Kenvil Atkins

We met in the most unusual places day after day, gentle breeze and rough seas surround us ours was a time of innocent
Who can you be oh nameless one what can you be but a passing thought staying long enough to torment my soul
As playful as two companion, as sweet as wine, your memory drifts back to me, why won’t you let me be
Come now let’s make the most of today, for we have no tomorrow and we will not remember today, for tomorrow did not come and today never happen
Fresh as a flour bright as a shining star wicked as the night and deep as the ocean, all that follow after you found refuge and I know no peace
Beat those drums slowly, let me sing of my redemption, for I am free again to walk a different time and place but my song has no melody
Penny for your thought, oh wise virgin you who created my tormented body
Do good not to me for I am as shallow waters, without you I have walk the halls of my memory, longing to see your face we are here for a short time
Year after year, your memory renews daily after I woke, longing for you why can’t you live me alone to nurse my tormented soul , yet I found it to be sweet torment, for my love has never departed from loving you
The final chapter is yet to be written, I will search the corners of heaven and earth to find my love once more, and if but for a flickering moment wish upon a star to find the joy I miss
