Balance for Better

It’s paradoxical in a civilized society as ours,
Where families venerate female deities for hours.
But not for a single moment does it wince or repent,
At the rampant killing of the female infant.
While social evils like dowry and domestic violence,
Though highly reprimanded, exist in silence.
Gender-based violence and economic discrimination,
Health inequities, or harmful practices in the name of tradition.
A woman’s interests have always been crushed,
Harassment continues, and she is just hushed.
Be it in the fields of education or employment,
Gender bias has only penalized, turning her talent dormant.

How will the balance be ever created?
With all the prevalent injustice meted,
Can an environment free of cultural oppression be ever maintained?
Even if it is, will it be possibly sustained?

In an era where she struggles to do justice,
Towards every role that she dons and chose to practice.
Embracing her professional demands every day,
Keeping her personal life at bay.
Pretending that she can have it all,
Hiding from the world her crawl and brawl.
So true it is that every day is about making choices,
To be a wife, a mother, a professional, asks her inner voices.
After all it’s hard to survive the demand,
One sometimes needs to call-off and start to command.

Having it all is just an illusion,
Costs her painful sacrifices of passion.
Appalling may this look at the first glance,
Environment still, harbours a hope of chance.

Women today are flying fighter jet,
Breaking the ceiling of societal impositions and illogical debt.
Getting inducted in combat roles on land and water,
Hat’s off to their contribution to balance for better.
Balance for better is a challenge for the society,
Needs world-wide implementation with valour and dignity.
From grass-root activism to worldwide action,
Time has come to work in a unified direction.
Towards building a gender-balanced world,
Where everyone plays a part unfurled.

As we enter in an exciting period of growth and development,
The world expects imbibing a balance in temperament.
Especially towards the feminine component of nature,
That has been vested with the potential to nurture.

Woman represents the force that propels the cosmic energy,
Manifesting into beauty, freshness, and warmth, reflecting amazing synergy.

She imparts meaning to the entire act of expression,
Be it love, sincerity, empathy or compassion.
She is gifted with the intelligence and wisdom,
That puts restlessness to pause and adds vigour to humdrum.

Woman can converge all her strength,
Bringing stability and stillness to the ripples of life at length.
Woman redefines the meaning of responsibility,
Bears the impact of the family and the society.
Yet never does she retaliate,
As she can only absorb and not reflect.

Woman can feel the vibes of unspoken words, unfelt touch & unsung emotions,
Intuitive, immaculate are her thoughts, her every action.
Woman emits the sparkle of dew, fragrance of mist, liberty of a breeze,

That’s hard to ignore and denies to seize.
Unparalleled, uncomprehending, unsolved is her identity,
Yet her modes have their own uniqueness, simplicity and sanctity.
Enjoys being loved, cared, pampered and above all being needed,
Preserves all that’s precious in her memories, beautifully beaded.

Woman is a soul with the wow factor,
Woman is the wonder in the wonderful, the balance for better....

Brilliance radiates through her glorified persona,
Beyond mediocre perception, are different hues of her chroma.
Is it still hard to understand, and respect the creator’s finest creation?
Who has been rendered the power, and the position,
To transform the energy pervading this universe,
Into meaningful emotions blooming to intersperse.
So beautifully does she co-exist with the masculine component in nature,
Then why it is so difficult to establish a balance for better?

Balance for better is not a women's issue, any more,
It's a wave knocking at every door.
Be it any economy, any community,

Can no more walk away, enjoying self-proclaimed impunity.
Struggle for equality, is now every woman’s story,
To reap the fruits of her untiring contributions, to win back her glory.
Time has come to guide and galvanize continuous collective action,
Needless, by a single feminist or by any one organisation.
Her story needs to be written by all those who care about human right,
Together we shall win, once we put up a strong fight.
The race has already begun for a world to experience gender-balance,
To embrace the reality and uplift society from patriarchal trance.
Be it among the job seekers, or the policy makers,
Woman deserves every chance to represent,
To speak, to emerge as a risk taker.

Society should remove all the obstacles to women’s active participation,
In making economic, social, cultural and political decision.
Be it in the public or private life sphere,
She is entitled for a full and equal share.

Shared power and responsibility at home, be the principle to practice,
As transformed partnership is the only prerequisite for social justice.
Men should come ahead, extending a helping hand,
Intending not to make the opposite gender feel inferior,
but to support their stand.

Respect woman in every form is what the mothers need to teach,
Sensitizing their sons to be more resilient to breach.
Breach that may tarnish the priceless female dignity,
Foundation towards protecting which may be laid in every community.
Women’s health should be given prime importance and protection,
For a nation to expect a prospective healthy generation.
Only then will the society evolve to a better future,
Where a woman will enjoy the balance for better.
