Fatherly Advice

poem by: Bailey Vaughn

I'm trying so hard to spread a positive message but it's hard when everyone around me is living so reckless.
Accepting what I can change and changing what I can't accept.

This world has a motive to tear you apart.
Not knowing your worth will finish you before you can start.
So keep your head high, never look down.
This world could be yours, don't show them your frown.

Don't be so stubborn, open your mind and heart.
Start accepting advice, even if it seems too harsh.
Show love to others and they will love back,
Give a dead tree water and it will gain it’s life back.

Shackled down to this world that is filled with greed,
I’ll release these shackles and set myself free.
Free like the wind, with only one direction to go,
Keep moving forward, Your true colors will show.

When you find yourself feeling helpless,
Look inside yourself and make this world bend.
Mold it to your likings and things you want to see.
Your life will be much easier, much easier than it was for me.

One thing my father always told me, “Make it work, son.”
That means to never give up until you have won.
Let nothing be an obstacle, not till you’re done.
Live life too the fullest, Make it work, son.
