Friendship

poem by: Aina A
Written on Apr 28, 2019

I lost a friend.

I thought I lost a lover, but
That was last year (a thousand years ago).

Since then a lot has happened, and
Those painful memories, they've lost their sting, and

In their place are other things (those future dreams).

There is no getting back to you and no recapturing the past to now.

So, now I try to shed this loss and its associated sadness.

I try to peel the layers off, one by one, until tomorrow comes.

I pray for peace to come.

A heartfelt poem, as I read my own heart ached for the writer. It was such a write that I’m sure it touched my own life in a positive way.
