Alice

The bottle read, "Drink Me.” Puzzled and sober, she followed directions without a thought. Her feet danced back and forth. She fell back in her chair, unaware of the trap she had been caught in. She gripped the bottle for comfort, as if it was her only hope. Maybe she'll grow past this and finally escape. Maybe she'll just fall down to the hell below, or possibly just float away? The years have passed, and her mental struggles remain. She begins losing all sense of who she was, living daily life in vain. Disoriented and numb, she is drowning herself in rum. With every bottle, the more comfort she gets. Losing the ability to comprehend, minimal words left to voice. The only words left, a song of despair. A paper lies in her pocket with the number to the nearest morgue. Her only words remaining are what she's practiced to preach. Its the only way she appears normal, keeping her secrets hidden with her drinks. The winds blow whispers through her ear drums as they feel she's worthy to warn. Slowly getting closer to escaping, between the potion and other routes, she's become torn. Ripping the label from the bottle, Alice begins to chug away. She's not only chugging to forget herself, but to allow her demons to play. Shrinking quickly to that of a mouse, only corners and holes to hide. Tiny feet tapping across the ground frantically, her escape she must find. She hears the words, "Run, girl. Run or you'll die." The cat appears from the shadows he hid, cackling and showing his glowing grin. He smirks as he offers his advice. "Don't run, girl. You know you can't win." Alice sobs and cowardly begs to her power in the sky. She runs like lighting through the maze of death, trying so hard not to die. Choking and gasping for breath, she hears the insanity coming swiftly. They're calling to invite her in. "Have a tea party with us, my Alice. I promise we'll be gifting. We'll steal you from your real world. Hide you deep within the dark. You'll lose everything you've known so far to be our Queen of Hearts. Don't worry Alice, they aren't able to cause you harm. Though, if they cause havoc from a distance, try your best not to be alarmed. If you open your eyes now, dear, the world will again be true. I see you'd rather keep them closed, what a delightful surprise from you. Our kingdom of insanity needs a Queen, and a wonderful Queen you'd be. Keep your eyes sealed shut, and drink this final vile. This one is to rid you of pain I know you've held on to for quite a while. Are you ready to lose your mind, Alice? Shush, you're being too loud. Not that it matters much, your screams not heard for miles. You know you want to lose touch once more. You know you want to run away from your pain. You know your head is becoming sore, and you see that you truly are insane. You're ours now forever, to be our Queen of Hearts. We'll tell you how to act and talk, and you must play your part. You lived this life in your world every day. Don't act as if you're scared. Remember, nothing is how it seems, and I promise, when it comes to your misery, no one really cares. Do you truly believe you have any sanity left to give? You lost your mind with every bottle you downed. How have you continued to live? You've destroyed your mind, and lost yourself. Now we're here to help you along. Come with us, follow the steps, and you'll learn what's right from wrong. We'll fix you up, and give you worth, something you've never had. No more escaping from your world, it's time to drive you mad. We'll make you insane as much as we possibly can. When we're done, you'll be so gone, you'll wish you never ran. We'll give you a smile. You'll rot in your throne, and that is where you'll stay. Wasting away more and more with every passing day. Lost in your mind, you'll be the most obedient Queen. Our kingdom will use you as a vessel and nothing more at all. You'll be an object, forced to obey our every law. A new Alice you'll be, but this time you'll never return. You're forever lost in thought and delusion, and forever in your mental hell shall you burn. What did you expect for being so weak? How could you survive even just a day of being sober? I hope in our kingdom you find every wish you seek. Your days of what you enjoyed calling a life are now finally over. No more drugs to numb your mind, in that hell you'll stay. You've gone too long without consequence, and now you'll finally pay.
