How can you love what was never protected. 
How can you love what was never a moment.
How can you love what was never there....

Beautiful poem. It has a deep philosophical thought rooted in it. I interpret your poem where something like maya (illusion) tries to lure us with. Not real but keeps us bounded and tied. In fact the Hindu philosophy echoes a similar school of thought. Great Job
