Just Be You

poem by: Gauri Sharma
Written on Oct 23, 2018

I wish I could think like them,
those writers, poets, those scholars of the past,
they see the world as they want to see,
I wish I could take their eyes,
to see something so original yet non-existing,
to see something so unique.

A mind as good as that
would take me anywhere,
to the utopian land I would go,
where I would see what they see,
Oh what a wonderful world it would be.

But Oh! how stupid I would be,
why take their eyes when I have mine?
I have my own body, own mind.
why did it take me too long to realize:
I can't be anything other than me, because;
everyone is unique in their own life.

So I would see the world the way I want to see,
the way I want to be.
