Heaven's No Place For a Bum Like Me

poem by: Michael Wise
Written on Oct 05, 2018

Looking around
good people I see
How did they end up
with someone like me?

My heart is divided
both far and near
Should I move on
or stay right here?

And if I should leave
what about after?
Will life be about
tears or laughter?

My neighbors bargained
for better than I
I've let them down
and they wonder why

A misfit am I
and always have been
The odd man out
in a vessel of sin

Some things never change
Some seeds never grow
Some eyes never see
and some minds never know

And what is the lesson?
Just what is the plan?
What is the destination
of man?

Well, I cannot say
where you'll all be
but Heaven's no place
for a bum like me

Nobody should should suffer with such low esteem of themselves.....and I'm sure a few bums have found themselves in heaven....hahaha...

I agree. I'm in one of those "valley" times of life. Have a lot going on, maybe thinking of relocating again, the usual.

Thanks Chris, Halley & Frank. Just a down season of life for me. It will improve, just as it always has before.

Wow, so original, I think I picked up suicidal thoughts, I hope not. I know what that is like! Very unique, so impressive
