OH WOKE IS ME

poem by: Marc Hawkins
Written on Jul 04, 2018

This world, eh?
Snowflakes melting in the heat of discussion
threatening words of repercussion,
activists firing off angry epistles
like a thousand hurtling well do-ers or dissers,
beating up the street on piccolo drums
splaying bullets from morality guns,
sensitivities at an all time high
(maybe need a bigger fish to fry).
Confusing self identity wars,
sexless graphics on toilet doors.
I have nothing against cocks in frocks,
I'm just not into that social media soapbox.
Oh to see life through trippy, hippy dreams
unblemished by insta-face-tweet memes.
