Silly Worry

poem by: Theresa Davison
Written on Apr 19, 2018

When we found out about our Barefoot Day
Some of the girls began to worry
That we would have our toes cut off.
The aptly named Miss Walker had threatened THAT if we forgot our homework.
Most of us knew Miss had said that in jest
The worry of few was a silly worry
Teachers aren't allowed to do that.

I remember the rumour that spread like wildfire:
"The teachers are gonna chop our toes off!"

We still today have all eight toes fully intact

I was born without my left little toe and I lost my big toe in an accident involving a clumsy girl walking barefoot in the kitchen and dropping a glass bowl on her own foot.

It's alright Frank. You didn't know. I happened a fairly long time ago anyways.

And Frank, there are many things far worse than assuming the number of toes a girl has. xx
