Light a candle

poem by: Stephen Westerland
Written on Aug 07, 2016

Watch it burn so bright
A shimmering flame
To brighten the night
Sits all alone
Throughout the day
Lights up at night
To show you the way
When people see the candle
It turns night to day
It brightens their lives
In every way
But then comes the day
When the candle goes out
But there sure is one thing
That there can be no doubt
You were a candle
You helped me to see
Two best friends that will last forever
So when you see a candle in the window
Just know that we’re always together.
For my best friend Pete.
