WE WALK THE EARTH
Can the day that we’ve been given
really reach to touch the sun,
or are we just brothers of the night?
Does this globe on which we war
yearn to hear smooth steps tread soft?
Or, does the gait we stretch out
just tap it’s notes to their beat?
As far as we search the world
in search of heart-worn peace,
must everyone give way to winds
that screech mere men aside?
Yet, still we hear the mountains sing
songs found to recall the day.
To seek the thrill of winds to brace
and fortify a different way.
To know when burdens end our day,
the earth will move
to unfold reasons,
to shine all light
on what becomes
the everlasting way.
