Behind These Eyes

poem by: Kelly Wood
Written on Apr 23, 2016

I have no children to carry my name
there is no love or a family
who will remember me when I'm gone
all I have are my words to carry on
to leave behind what I have done

I'm not looking for riches or fame
don't need a red carpet rolled out for me
I just want the whole world to see
all that was burning inside of me
to carry on with my legacy
of who it was that I am
what made me into this man

I want the world to see and know
all that I had here that I would show
through these thoughts I write for you

I'm not seeking to be held in praise
when it's time for my final days
just want the world to see what I been through
and the dreams that I made
behind these eye's that soon will fade

I was deeply moved by this beautiful poem, we all leave something behind, your legacy will be your poetry which will continue to be read after you've gone.
