We Are Here Now

poem by: Jeanne Fiedler
Written on Sep 15, 2015

I stay here amidst
the backyard forest
where trails of deer roam
and birds, bees, and butterflies soar
Glorious sunrises of peach and violet
Sunsets of blue and yellow glistening
the bright blue gloaming sky
in the middle of the night
the soulful blues song it plays
Lively chipmunks, bunnies scurry
robins - mother robins all around
who symbolize my mother's home
where I stay and nurture
her frail, weak body
and gentle, feeble but loving mind
The tree outside with
white full blossoms
turning into red berries
to green, soft opaque leaves
as it travels through the seasons
and speaks to us...

These are the seeds of our garden
growing and yearning for love
and deep rooted soil that anchors us
to want to be here - now
on this glorious summer day
the phases and reflections
of the moon guiding us through
the deep and endless darkness

Our lives glow like candles
and flickering like blinks of an eyelash
as we watch the spiritual journey
we roam on today - in this moment
the warmth of the sun
soothing and healing our tired bones
and sad eyes - while building us
up to greatness
