The Freedom to Ride

poem by: Roxanne Dubarry
Written on Jun 15, 2026

The freedom to be able to ride Everett Transit/ Para Transit.
And to remain our semblance of transportation's independence.
Clearly is in double jeopardy for both drivers and passengers.

Making certain by, spreading this tale woe, on Facebook
And All Poetry takes up a lot of time for even a poetic
Voice crying in the wilderness such as yours truly.

By helping and assisting the drivers and passengers
Belonging to Everett Transit/ Para Transit, is unto me,
Time that is very well spent indeed.

But what if many of the powers that be no longer
care about the drivers and passengers such as me?
It is clearly plain to see, all they care about is money!

Whatever happened to looking after what is best,
And clearly in the very best interest of the people
Belonging to the City of Everett Washington?

They have deprived us of the right to vote on
Important issues pertaining to our very own transit.
All in their vain attempts' to be able to muzzle us!

The City of Everett has received many phone calls
And also emails from numerous merger impacted
Concerned and proactive people.

The merger between both Community and Everett
Does not really need to take place after all,
But they care more about money and that is all.

What is best for the people isn't what really matters,
Even though semblances of independent life styles and
Hopes and dreams are being systemically shattered!

Sincerely,

Roxanne Lea Dubarry

Long term Everett resident and long term
satisfied Everett Para Transit Customer.
