Flying Sky High

poem by: Roxanne Dubarry
Written on Feb 22, 2026

Flying sky high were kites that looked like birds;
during a breezy sunny Spring's day the birdlike
kites were gracefully soaring above us in the
air. They made me forget all of my worries
and my cares.

The sky above us was awesome some shade
of blue, and the the clouds above us were
snowy white too.

In the Mukilteo Lighthouse Park, my friend and
I walked together (for awhile) during the day
light hours not after dark.

We beheld a small plane flying above our heads
and a red helicopter flying over the water's
waves. Suddenly then they slowly flew away.

It was a lovely way for the two of us to spend
a beautiful Spring day.

***We have a little booklet of poems
that my former church Faith Lutheran,
Everett,Washington assembled as
part of a fundraising bazaar that
they used to have to help the
non profit organizations that their
children and teens would sponsor.

Flying Sky was chosen,
by myself, to be title
of the little poetry
booklet.

Love,
