HUMBLE LUSHAN
HUMBLE LUSHAN
You may not know me, but I do not live in the king’s palace
Nor even heard about me. I do not boast of my accomplishments
Possibly you may have seen me, I labor tirelessly where I’m sent
I am who I am, a slave of the almighty, willingly without question
Creator of poems and a time traveler, my timeless poems will marvel
II
To the East without ceasing to the North, that doesn’t mean I’m soft
The words are easy; my head is clear. I travel here and everywhere
Blue is the color of the sky today. Hurry, do hurry, come out to play
Give us strength for purpose and wisdom for honor, it’s the only way
Yes, honor the lord thy God, for his great mercy comes from above
III
I am the poet, that’s a fact, some say it’s a matter of white or black
But I tell you, my friend, the words of the prophet are on my back
Will forever guide my track through the storm or the dark?
It’s not a lost endeavor, for timeless poems will be there forever
For shadows come and shadows go, and the mist gently covers the snow
