THE GRAND EXIT
The old ravine runs from the foot of the hill and passes near my front door
Mama forbids me to play there when the rains come down for sure
That little ravine turns into a mighty big river running down the bay
And hey you are in big trouble I will say if you are found in its way
Your next trip will end up not being too secure that’s what everyone says

My heart is in Micoud under the Saint Lucian skies and always will be
And though I have traveled far I often return the grand folks to see
Yes, my Uncle Kenny Aunt Cecilia Uncle Charles Grandma Angelina
And If you are mellow yellow like me you can envision my dilemma
Yet I have not returned home in years and the old folks are all but gone

I was in love with a woman Pwindaykye was her name freedom was her game
In her arms, I felt so secure roaming her countryside and spreading my fame
I tasted her milk and honey and walk the barren field near the edge of the sea
My innocents were bliss and would not let me be for there is none left amidst
And yes She took me to a place of forgetfulness yes Pwindaykye and me

Now my years are coming to a close and twilight is upon me soon I will be no more
But the footprints I left behind to remind you I was there think of me, my dear
I can hear the last bell ringing as customary Almighty Jehovah is near my God so dear
Yet it is said that you have not lived if you ignore his presence what reward is there
Make hast while the sunshine have courage soon you too will face the grand exit
