Mirror

poem by: Rhys Thomas

I look in the mirror, what do I see?
A stranger's face staring back at me
Is this a dream or reality?
A reflection that seems not to be

I trace my fingers along my skin
The stranger always mimicking
Am I in control or is she?
This reflection that seems not to be

This body, this face
These arms, these fingers
All are out of place
I don't know whose they are

The world around me isn't real
It's made up of little dots
Like pixels in a videogame
I can't begin to explain

The reflection moves and speaks
It knows I am it's puppet
Compelled to obey
It commands what I do and dictates what I say

So I look in the mirror, what do I see?
A stranger's face staring back at me
