Recycled Stories

poem by: Cecilia Crasto
Written on Oct 28, 2016

We too were once the young ones
But time has made us old
So now we tell the stories
That once to us were told.

We climbed many mountains we hiked in the rain
With youth's exuberance we never knew pain
We chased the wind and scaled the trees
Played in the snow and swirled with the leaves
the falling stars were ours to keep
Holding them tightly as we drifted asleep
We lay in the sun and danced with the moon
How could we know it would end so soon
Time will complete what age could not defeat
Angels will come to take our hand
And lead us to the Promised Land.

The young ones too will grow old
And they will tell the stories
That once to them were told.

What I'd give to be a child again. This poem is great, it got me remembering my childhood. that is a mark of a great writer to make one reflect. Well done.

When we are young, growing old is never a thought.......then suddenly we are recalling events of 60yrs ago!......it seems like a blink of the eye....and I'm now playing games with my great granddaughter!..........and loving it...haha....love the poem Cecilia.....as usual..
Cecilia Crasto commented:
Thank you Frank, I hope you continue to play games for a long time, this is what keeps us young, in spirit and heart, wrinkles and grey hair don't matter.
