Death Denied

poem by: Cecilia Crasto
Written on Sep 05, 2016

Death came and found me,
Wrapped his arms around me
And lay down by my side.
I come he said to take you home
To a place where there is peace and love
I turned away from his cloying breath
And ran to hide from his kiss of death
The request for my soul will be denied
He'll lead me not into the night
I want to climb mountains and sail the seas
Go gather daisies and run in the fields
Jump over moonbeams watch the stars at play
And then await the dawn of day
I see him not as an ominous foe
There beside me come my time to go
He'll hold me in a close embrace
And take me to another place
What lies beyond the great divide
El Dante's inferno or eternal paradise
The sun will rise the moon will appear
And in their shadow I will disappear.

I would like to return as a butterfly
And flutter my wings all day~~~

Your poem is very well written Cecilia. When one is young they think they will live forever When they get older reality hits them. Nice to think that there is a better place.

Nice poem Cecilia. Death is life's companion just a heartbeat a breath away. Having experienced a near death, I know how fragile yet beautiful life is.
Maria Williams commented:
I can see you are truly a diversified writer, you can switch easily from humor to spiritual, and spark ones imagination at the same time. I truly enjoy the story.

Hmm...the way society is going, you can't see it now, but death probably tryna do you a big favour?
